We’re Not Just Advising on Businesses — We’re Building Them!

KelbaCorp has always been about helping people make smart, confident decisions in commercial real estate and business ownership. Over the past while, we’ve taken a big step forward: we’ve expanded from only helping clients buy and sell
commercial entities to also owning and operating small businesses ourselves.
This post is a quick update on what we’ve been up to — and what it means for our clients.
What’s new? KelbaCorp acquired A1 Pooper Scoopin and Outright Entertainment
These aren’t “passive” investments for us. They’re real operating businesses — with customers, systems, staff/contractors, marketing, service delivery, and all the day-to-day decisions that come with ownership.
Why we did it? Because we believe in small business (and we live it)!
A lot of people want to own a business. Fewer people understand what ownership really looks like until they’re in it. By stepping into ownership ourselves, we’re doing two things:
Building long-term assets that create stability and growth.
Strengthening our real-world expertise so we can advise clients from firsthand experience — not theory.
When we say we understand the pressure of payroll, customer retention, reputation, and operational efficiency, we mean it. We’re in it!
What this changes (and improves) for our clients?
We still do what we’re known for: helping clients buy and sell commercial properties and businesses across Southern Alberta. But now, our perspective is sharper.
1) We ask better questions earlier!
When you’re buying a business, the “headline numbers” aren’t enough. Ownership forces you to focus on the details that actually determine whether a business is healthy.
That means we’re even more focused on things like:
Financial clarity and clean reporting
Operational risk (what breaks when the owner leaves?)
Customer concentration and retention
Staffing realities and workload
Systems, processes, and marketing consistency
2) We understand transitions because we’re doing them!
Every acquisition involves a transition — and transitions are where deals either succeed or struggle.
Owning businesses gives us current, practical insight into:
What a smooth handoff looks like
What buyers should negotiate for upfront
How to protect continuity with customers and staff
How to spot “hidden work” that isn’t obvious in the listing package
3) We’re even more committed to long-term value!
We’re not in the business of quick wins. We’re in the business of building.
Whether you’re:
buying your first small business,
selling a company you’ve built for years,
expanding into a second location,
looking at commercial real estate as part of your plan,
…our job is to help you make a decision that holds up over time.
KelbaCorp’s bigger picture: helping clients build, while we build too.
Our core work remains the same:
Commercial real estate support
Business buying and selling (business brokerage)
Consultation and strategy around deals, valuation, and due diligence
But our growth into ownership is intentional. It’s part of a bigger picture. KelbaCorp is becoming a stronger operator, not just an advisor. And that benefits the people we serve.
If you’re thinking about buying or selling a business, let’s talk!
If you’re exploring a purchase, considering a sale, or just want a second opinion on a deal, we’re happy to have a conversation.
KelbaCorp is actively involved in the world of small business ownership — and we bring that experience to every client interaction.
